Luxury Valentine Dinner at OXO Tower London

Since I am ALWAYS trying to save money for travel, dining out is not something I get to do a lot of. So when Lewis and I got the opportunity to test out the Brasserie at the OXO Tower we were thrilled not only for the chance to treat ourselves to what would be not only an excellent meal but one with such a spectacular view of one of our all time favorite spots, London’s South Bank.

Taking it as an opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style (as well as a little early) we dressed up a bit and braved the chilly weather in London for a night out.

We took the lift up to the 8th floor of the OXO Tower and were promptly escorted to a table overlooking the River Thames with incredible views of St Paul’s Cathedral as well as bits of the London Eye.

There are two options for places to eat on the 8th floor; To the east is The OXO Tower Restaurant, which offers a more formal dining venue, and to the west is the OXO Tower Brasserie (where we ate) which features an open-plan kitchen and bold and flavoursome British cuisine. Both spaces are linked by a spectacular 250-foot garden terrace, which offers some of the most breath-taking views of London. OXO also offers a garden terrace for the summertime which I would love to enjoy during warmer weather.

We started our meal with a browse of their extensive cocktail menu and WHOA were they amazing.

I got the Tickled Pink and lewis got the Pleasure Boat which he proclaimed the “best cocktail of his life,” (extremely high praise). Not only were the drinks delicious but the presentation was so attractive and fun!

I loved my little yellow flower and Lewis really did not want to part with his Tiki cup.

For a starter I had the grilled king prawns with root vegetable slaw and truffle mayonnaise,  absolutely delicious.

Lewis went with the red pepper and feta salad, falafel, spiced pomegranate dressing and I don’t think there was a speck of it left on his plate. Yum!

For a main I chose the Roasted cod with Jerusalem artichokes and a dill dressing.

Coming from Cape Cod, I definitely feel like I have high expectations for fish and this dish did not disappoint! The cod was cooked to absolute perfection I don’t think I had ever really had artichokes before this meal but they complimented the rest of the dish wonderfully.

Lewis had the Scottish fillet steak with chips and broccoli which also looked fantastic.

Although we were absolutely stuffed to the brim Lewis and I have never been ones to turn down dessert. I went for the apple pie and lewis had a selection of ice creams. The perfect end to such a memorable and fun London dining experience!

The breathtaking panoramic views of the London skyline made for a stunning backdrop to a delicious meal. Be sure to enjoy some of the amazing and innovative drinks and don’t forget your camera for the seriously Insta-worthy views.

Thank you to the OXO Tower for inviting me to experience their incredible restaurant! As always, my opinions are my own!
