ALONE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD
Hi hiiii.
Where to begin?
I feel like my last post got pretty deep and this one may be a bit of a downer as well.
Let’s start with the positives:
If the first 12 days of 2017 are any indication of what the rest of my year in travel is going to look like I am in some serious good luck.
My family’s trip to Australia was epic and I am going to go into much detail about all the amazing things we got to do in some more posts this week.
Sydney fireworks, Taronga Zoo, Bondi Beach, Watson’s Bay, Byron Bay, Fraser Island, boating, eating, cooking we did it all and it was sick.
Unfortunately, we all got some bad news towards the end of their trip and I now find myself in Australia totally and completely
A L O N E.
I guess it’s all part of the journey but let me tell you being alone on the other side of the world is not fun.
This is the first time since I’ve been out here that I’ve been seriously homesick and seriously considered moving back to Boston.
I found this video today and Aly really sums up exactly what I am feeling at the minute. There have been countless incredible people I have met along the way but one of the strangest things about traveling so far is how transient everything/everyone is. You learn that you don’t always get to say goodbye and that becomes kind of weirdly normal. At the end of the day the only person you are always going to be with is yourself–and that’s kind of scary.
Maybe (hopefully) I will find the strength to take this experience as an opportunity to get comfortable being truly alone with myself. But at the moment I would give anything for my close friends and family to be near.
It’s weird too because social media gives us this false sense of connection when really liking and commenting on things is definitely not the same as actually speaking face to face. Social media makes it so that we always know what our friends our up so we don’t feel like we need to ask them about it but that’s not really true is it.
I think it’s times like these that make you remember how important it is to stay in touch.
In the meantime, if anyone is interested in some free accommodation in a beautiful home in a beautiful town hit a girl up.
Xx
