Eating my Way through Italy with Secret Food Tours: Rome

OK, I’d be lying if I said that gorging myself in the mecca of carbs didn’t play a massive part in my desire to visit Italy. Pizza, pasta, cheese, cannoli, caprese, gelato, wine… to think that one country is individually responsible for so many of my favourite foods is pretty amazing. When I was offered the opportunity to go on a secret food tour of Rome on my first night in Italy naturally I jumped at the chance. I wasn’t sure exactly what the tour was going to entail (hence

5 Pieces of Packing Advice I Wish I Hadn’t Ignored

As I am nearing the end of my working holiday year I’ve got to dust off my 65L massive Osprey backpack and figure out how to cram all my stuff back into it. Turns out I’ve accumulated quite a lot of stuff over the last 9 months and it’s time to pick through the items that made the cut and those that did not. You know what they say: hindsight is 20/20… here are five pieces of advice I wish I had paid a little more attention to back when I was just setting off. “Don’t pack whit

Temples, Volcanoes, Waterfalls and More with Bali Customized Tours

Whenever I book a trip to a new place there are a few things that I always do immediately after confirming my flights: Buy the Lonely Planet guide, read loads of blog posts from other travel bloggers and search on YouTube! When Lewis and I booked our trip to Bali we jumped straight on YouTube and found this fantastic video posted by Christian LeBlanc of Lost LeBlanc (check him out for travel vlogs so amazing you’ll want to drop everything and get on the next flight) who did a

Photo Diary: A Day in Gili Air, Bali

OK, prepare yourself… after reading this post you’re going to REALLY want to book a trip. Let me rephrase that… after seeing the glassy clear blue seawater, the fresh white sand and the royal blue skies in these photos you’re going to have to literally hold yourself back from jumping on the next boat to Gili Air. Get ready… After two days on Gili Trawangan we were eager to see more of what the Gili Islands had to offer. So on day three we woke up early and set off for Gili Ai

Chilling at The Chillhouse in Canggu, Bali!

My 10 days in Bali were without a doubt one of the best trips I have ever been on. We surfed, explored temples, wandered through markets, watched the rice paddies grow, practiced yoga, ate fresh and healthy foods, rode bikes around the Gili islands, snorkeled with fish and SO much more. Our trip started in the best way imaginable: by chilling at The Chillhouse in Canggu. WOW. You guys, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. 100% the coolest place I have EVER stayed. I had read and seen so mu

FLYING BUSINESS CLASS WITH BRITISH AIRWAYS SYDNEY TO LONDON

Business class is THE ONE. GUYS, guys, seriously, this is the absolute best way to travel. My flight from Boston to Dubai to Sydney back in September was the absolute worst. It’s 12 hours from Boston to Dubai and then it was another 14 from Dubai to Sydney and let me tell you that is one heck of a long time to sit in a teeny tiny seat right up close to a stranger and not get any sleep. That being said, I was REALLY not looking forward to this flight from Sydney to Singapore (

    Five Month Update

Holaaa Let me start by saying it hasn’t actually been 5 full months just yet… shy by just two weeks but let’s round up haha. It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post for the sake of writing a blog post, my last “update” was at 2 months! Crazy, time has moved along in this weird super-fast at time and super-slow at times way that I think comes from not having had a real routine since we’ve been in Australia. The closest we came to routine was the few weeks we had after we m

ALONE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD

Hi hiiii. Where to begin? I feel like my last post got pretty deep and this one may be a bit of a downer as well. Let’s start with the positives: If the first 12 days of 2017 are any indication of what the rest of my year in travel is going to look like I am in some serious good luck. My family’s trip to Australia was epic and I am going to go into much detail about all the amazing things we got to do in some more posts this week. Sydney fireworks, Taronga Zoo, Bondi Beach, W

The Best Spot to Watch the Sydney New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Sydney is a major travel goal for so many people, myself included!! This year I was lucky enough to take part in the festivities and it was totally worth the hype!! We grabbed an Uber and met my family at their Darlinghurst Airbnb. Being NYE, Sydney was crazy and we were so lost as to where we should watch the fireworks. To access one of the Sydney city recommended spots you have to line up (or even camp out!) hours and hours in advanc

100 Things I Learned in 100 Days of Travel

It’s been 100 days since I left home on my year long adventure around the world and I’ve already learned so much more than any class has ever taught me. Take LOADS of pictures and videos. Just when you think you have enough, take double what you already have. Buying food from grocery stores will alway be cheaper than eating out. Buy a reusable water bottle. You’ll save hundreds. Make connections: some of the best days of travel were when we reached out to friends of friends o

    Two Month Update

It’s been two months! Here’s a list of random thoughts/things I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that I’ve been keeping on the notes section of my iPhone for your reading entertainment. Two months later and I think I’ve only just gotten over the dehydration from the flight out here. Not being dramatic. I would give my first born child for a Dunkin iced coffee. I never knew how dependent on iced coffee I was until I had to live without it for two months. They just. Can’t. Fi

VIDEO: 4WDs ON FRASER ISLAND (AND MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT VLOGGING)

Holy cow have I had a hard time uploading this video! Wi-fi in Australia gets 2 big thumbs down. Fraser Island on the other hand gets all the thumbs up haha. Hands down the best weekend we have had in Australia so far! From speeding down remote beaches in our own 4WDs, a scenic sea flight, swimming in crystal clear Lake Mackenzie to tubing in Eli Creek, it was an absolutely incredible 3 days with some equally incredible people. Will do a full post on our weekend soon but in t

A quick video of some of the awesome hikes around Sydney I did before I started the road trip up the East Coast of Australia. First bit is from the Coogee to Bondi coastal path in Sydney and the second is from The Blue Mountains hike about a 2 hour train ride from the city. Such beautiful places! Two Week Update

Somehow we’ve been on the road for two weeks now and it has both felt like two years and two seconds. Funny how that happens. We’ve done absolutely loads in the last two weeks and now we’ve got a few days in Sydney to just chill out before we have another wild 16 days ahead of us. I had previously written we’d be doing the east coast tour as far as Noosa but now it looks like we’ll be doing Fraser Island as well (no complaints over here!!) We’ve said goodbye to some of the am

    Your Plans Will Change

“Your plans will change every three seconds while you’re travelling.” They told us that during the work and travel talk earlier this week and it has proven true many times already. When we left America Lewis and I hadn’t planned much past the Ultimate week. Roughly, we expected to travel northwards and start looking for flats and jobs pretty much straightaway. We didn’t exactly expect to be spending another (gigantic) chunk of money on more travel on our third day in Australi

    Ultimate Oz Week Pt2

This week has been so crazy and packed with fun activities I haven’t had a chance to write so here’s an update on how the last week has gone. In a word, AMAZING!!! Seriously, Ultimate has been such a great decision I am SO glad we decided to do it and I literally don’t know what we would have done if we hadn’t done this program (probably turned around and come home to be honest). If anyone out there is reading this thinking about doing a Working Holiday definitely definitely

    48 Hours in Dubai!

I don’t even know where to begin to describe our whirlwind trip to Dubai, what an amazing place. It feels like we were there for one extremely long day or an entire week–I’ve pretty much lost all sense of time. I’ll start from the beginning. On Wednesday morning I woke at 5am (one last time) to race to Soul. It was pretty weird and nice to be hustling out there so early to actually ride and not work. My goal with that was to workout so hard that I had no choice but to sleep o

My Year In Australia: The Plan (So Far!)

If you haven’t already heard, Lewis and I are moving to Australia! We’re headed Down Under on a year-long working holiday visa. I leave for Oz on September 14th from Boston Logan Airport at the same time Lewis will leave from London Heathrow and (if all goes according to plan) our planes will reach Dubai airport early morning on the 15th. Why Dubai? No particular reason other than when else are we going to have the chance to visit Dubai?! But also, neither of us wanted to fly
